On the Road to Sheffield

If you’ve been following me on Twitter you will know that I’ve been very excited about what has, until now, only a potential move. But today I got an email with confirmation of the train tickets being booked, so there is no going back! On April 3rd, I will travel up to Sheffield to begin 2 weeks of work at web development company ocProducts.

If all goes well, and we don’t hate each other, I’ll then return for at least 6 weeks in the summer to work for them again, full time, 9-5, Monday to Friday. I’ll be staying at student accommodation near by and working in house.

Why am I so Excited?

I’m delighted to be getting out of Cornwall, not sure if I can bear another summer here.

I’ll be earning a decent amount of cash to go towards Uni (or most likely a Macbook Pro!)

This will be great experience, I’m sure I’ll learn loads more coding techniques but also more business stuff, which is great.

It’s my first ‘proper’ job if you like. I’m going to have my own desk, in an office, with web developers, project managers and designers.

So if you are around in Sheffield and fancy a coffee, or know of any events going on which you reckon I might like, or want to advise me on where (or where not) to go, then I’d be very grateful.
